The Corn Finger traveled to the new Cowboy’s stadium for the Big 12 playoff. We produced content on the fly, editing photos and videos in the back of a truck, to keep fans updated.

I was asked by Butler Service Corp. to help develop a marketing plan for a foam corn-husk hand gesture called the “Corn Finger.”

Marketing Plan

My first mission was to get the Corn Finger message out to Nebraska Corn Husker fans. A Facebook page was created and we began creating content that would engage users. We were able to get coverage in the local media including the Lincoln Journal Star Newspaper and a freature story with the local ABC affiliate.

We attended parades, events, campus visits, and all home Husker games selling foam hands, giving out free swag, and interacting with fans to create enthusiasm and awareness.

Web and Social Media

I setup Facebook as a home base on the web and consulted Butler Service Corp. on the best practices to build a presence. Next, I created a website that can change with the company, is easy to update, and fits a kernel sized budget.

Video Production

I created video content for the web to engage our online audience (the viral video thing).

Real Time Husker Updates

We kept Husker fans updated during the Big 12 championship from the Cowboy’s Stadium in TX; editing video on location and uploading it for fans.

Expand Our Market

As the Corn Finger grew I took on more than just marketing. I helped find new venues and markets for our products including the Concordia College Cobbers (Moorhead, MN) and working with the Dekalb seed company.

Product Development

I continue to help develop and bring new products to market including gloves, hats, scarves, and our awesome knit mittens.
